| Recent Changes in Ohio Law New legislation works against injured workers and their doctors by reducing the amount of time they have to seek payment for work injury related medical bills and treatment. A law passed by the Ohio Legislature means that an allowed medical only claim may remain open for consideration of treatment for only five years after the most recent payment has been made. Previously those claims were open for six years from the time the last medical bill was paid. Claims that involve payment of lost wages will remain open for payments only five years rather than ten years as previously established. Since many injured workers do not become aware of the full extent of their injury until some time has passed, this change makes it even more important to consider seeking assistance of legal counsel. This is only one example of several recent and important changes that can affect your legal rights related to work injuries. An attorney can help make certain that the appropriate medical conditions are recognized, and that medical bills are paid in a timely fashion. Being injured at work is never easy, but having a qualified, competent attorney to represent your interests can certainly help make sure you receive all the benefits you are entitled to receive under Ohio law. |
